DNow 2013

Brett's first DNow at First Baptist Toccoa was a great success!  They have had a DNow each March for the past 20 years or so.  We even grew up going to their DNows before heading off to college.  The entire church really gets behind it, and helps out in a million ways.  Both sets of grandparents helped out with Jacob man and Brett was BUSY the entire weekend.  Here is the band for the weekend:
The youth especially enjoyed rec time on Saturday afternoon.  Brett came up with some really fun games that they were very competitive with!  Here is a cube that they have to hop through without touching the sides.

The junior girls group was small, but powerful!

It was a great weekend, with about 140 kids attending + 30 college leaders.  It was definitely the biggest event that Brett had been in charge of so far.  It went really well and as soon as it was over, we were already looking forward to next year!

Fun With Daddy!

Get excited those of you who are actually reading this after my one year break from blogging!  I have uploaded and have all the pics from the last year ready to go for blogging : )  My sister told me that I should just forget the last year and go forward, but since I'm really doing all this for the blog book, I couldn't skip all the fun memories from this past year.  So. . . I"m going to do some catching up this summer.  It will be a little bit of a blogging blitz hopefully : )  Or. . . it might be another epic fail and I won't post anything for another eight months.  We shall see!
Here are my sweet boys playing with the train table.  Jacob LOVES the train table and uses it for cars.   He would get Brett to come play with him all the time and wanted to sit on his lap while they played.
Jacob loved it when Brett would make the tunnel spring in the air.  I did  get a little afraid it would hit him in the face.
Love those brown eyes!
It is so cute to post these pictures a year later because I see how much he has grown.  Sweet boy has mommy's heart!

Library Story Time with the Watts!

When Bert went to Nicaragua (way back in Feb), Steph and the girls came to spend the week at Mimi & Papa Stan's house.  We had the BEST week with them.  We seriously hung out with them like every day, sometimes multiple times a day.  Steph and I were in withdrawal the next week for sure!  The kids loved it too and Jacob gets a huge grin on his face if anyone says "Emily & Hannah" now!
Here are the sweet babies dancing and having fun at storytime.  Mrs. Chantelle is AMAZING!  We love her so much and hate that we have to miss sometimes now that I am working.  We will definitely get back in the swing of things during the summer.
Jacob likes to get really close to Mrs. Chantelle, but he's not sure about all the dancing :)

First Haircut. . . Scary times!

After two months away, I am back in the blogging world!  Just so you know, I do have a great excuse! Back in late February, I applied for 2 jobs thinking that I better apply for both just in case I didn't get one of them.  Well, when blessings rain they pour, and I did get both.  However, they both weren't certain that there would be funding for the next year, so I decided to work both of them just in case one couldn't hire me for next school year.  So, beginning in mid-March, I have been teaching Spanish 10 hours a week at one high school, teaching 20 hours a week at 2 middle schools and 2 high schools in another county, teaching a home school Spanish class once a week, helping Brett with the youth, and finishing up the 2 master's courses that I have been taking this semester!  It's been CRAZY!!!
Thankfully, I have an amazing husband and grandparents for our sweet baby who have helped out so much to help us get through these two months.  We are so thankful for the extra income that has been provided, but I don't think I'll let my life get that crazy again any time in the near future :)  So, needless to say, blogging has been way down at like #10 on my "to do list".  I really miss it though and am super motivated to catch up on Jacob's "story".  Since I just turned in my final papers for my grad courses, I thought I would type a quick update on sweet boy!
Here we are getting his first haircut.  As you can see, he was a little nervous from the get-go.  We brought the ipad along since it has amazing soothing capabilities.  He was actually content and was letting her snip away at his hair (the pic below is "before").  Then, she brought out the clippers!  All craziness broke loose and we had to do some major holding just to let him finish the haircut!  I'm pretty sure we'll let her just use scissors next time!

Jacob's Antics

Jacob's new favorite thing to do is turn the TV on and off again.  It is especially funny when he does it if Brett is watching something he's recorded.  Jacob will press the button and then look back at Brett and smile.  He'll turn it right back on again in 2 seconds. . . and then back off.  Since I could care less if the TV is on or not, it is funny to me :)
Jacob likes for Brett to push him around the yard in his little car while he goes golfing.
Chillin in my wheels. . .
Every time we go into Clint's store, Jacob heads straight for the Snicker's bars.  He takes them out of the box one by one, and hands them to whatever adult is standing nearby.  Clint has about 10 in his hands here.  Then he puts them all back in a heap in the box.  Uncle Clint is super sweet to him and loves when he comes by to say hey!

Go Jump in a Lake!

Every year, the Stephens County Literacy Foundation hosts a "Leap for Literacy" event at Lake Louise.  Groups raise money to have one person (or more) jump into Lake Louise in February.  Brett was nominated to jump for First Baptist.  So, on Saturday, Feb 16th Brett jumped in Lake Louise even thought the outside temp was 42 degrees and windy!!!!  The water temp was 37 degrees!  Miserable!

They decided to go with the theme of Duck Dynasty and wore camo and beards.  Nathan Ivester even jumped in with Brett just to be nice!
Freezing while getting ready to jump.
Saying that they are "happy, happy, happy to support literacy!"
Walking the plank. . .  (with EMTs very close by)
Running for the cannonball!
Getting out super quickly. . .
to get to the hot tub!  I told Brett later that I would only start talking about jumping in the lake fo $1000, and that was if I got to keep all the money.  Brett said he would start thinking about throwing me in for $300!  I told him I would probably never forgive him. . . he smiled and said, "sure you would!"  I believe I'll watch my back in Febuary at Lake Louise :)

Hannah Beth turns 1!

I can't believe it's been a year since little Hannah Beth came into the world!  On Feb 9th, we headed over to Steph and Bert's in Greenville to celebrate Hannah's b-day.  Steph did such a great job decorating the house with adorable decorations.  Jacob didn't appreciate all that, but he sure remembered the toy room!
While Emily was helping Hannah open her presents, Jacob was camping out in the play room with other party guests :)
It's in the wrong order, but here is a great picture of the family outside.
Precious lady bug cake for sweet girl!
Hannah got a swing from Bert and Steph and just HAD to try it out.  As you can see, she loved it!
Jacob was insistent that he wanted a turn too!  He camped out right beside it until Hannah got out.
Happy to be me!
Here he is when we arrived to the party.  He was actually getting a little bit sick that day and ended up with a bad stomach virus by Monday.  We were really hoping that we didn't pass it along to Em & Hannah.
Emily was REALLY helpful for the opening presents time.
Jacob got Hannah some books for her birthday this year.

Toy room fun!
As you can see, Hannah was ready to get outside and try it out.

So, Paw Paw and Bert went to hang it on the tree.  It was such a super fun party to celebrate sweet baby girl's b-day!  We love you Hannah Beth!
