Hanging with Mimi and Papa Stan

In November of 2012, dad bought a home in Toccoa and decided to renovate it and then sell it.  He did a super job with it, and was able to sell it almost immediately after putting it on the market!  Jacob loved to go visit papa Stan at his "project".  It is not hard to tell why :)

Jacob enjoys to be pulled around in this little red wagon at Mimi and Papa Stan's and wants to get in it EVERY time we go.  At this age, he didn't do very well when he didn't get exactly what he wanted in the moment that he wanted it.  So. . . we had quite a few meltdowns about the wagon and the fun swing in their yard.
Here is sweet baby "helping" mimi make a pound cake.  She was much more adventurous about letting him do things than I even was :)  He felt so important to get to take part in the process!

The Flu, and other March adventures

March 2013 was the first major sickness that our Jacaboo had to face.  On Saturday morning, he woke up and I thought that he must have a terrible cold.  I soon realized that he had a super high fever and that we needed to take him to the Dr.  We called to try to get in, but they said that they had absolutely no appointments.  I was sooooo frustrated!  They told us to just wait and see if the fever stayed high through the afternoon, and if so, then to take him to the ER.  It had spiked back up after his nap so we headed to the ER that afternoon.  When we got there, they checked his ears first and said that he had a double ear infection.  They gave him some meds and prescribed antibiotics.  I asked then if they thought there was any way that he had the flu and they said that no, it was just the ear infection and that there was no reason to test him.  Tuesday morning, he was still running a fever and I thought maybe the antibiotic wasn't working on his ears.  We took him in and he had the flu!!!! I was literally livid, because at that point, it was too late to give him any tamiflu.  Little man stay sick for like 2.5 weeks getting over it.  The antibiotics for the ear infection made his tummy upset and he wouldn't eat or drink.  It was a special kind of miserable!
Here he is with the flu taking a nap on Papa Stan.
Thankfully, he did heal and was back to his happy self!!!! Mommy and Daddy HATE it when you don't feel well little man!

Fun at the PARK!

I think I have posted about this before. . . but Toccoa has this super fun park for the little ones near the local rec department.  We always had to go with daddy since my back was still hurt, and Jacob still needed lots of close supervision!  There is a playground for 4 and under and then a set for 5+.  Of course, Jacob is only interested in the one for 5+, so we literally end up running around like crazy people to keep him from falling out the openings.  By "we" I mean "me" because even at 18 months, Brett thinks he is fully capable!

Sliding down the BIG slide!  He loves it and is such a daredevil about new slides :)
Everything is more fun with Daddy!

DNow 2013

Brett's first DNow at First Baptist Toccoa was a great success!  They have had a DNow each March for the past 20 years or so.  We even grew up going to their DNows before heading off to college.  The entire church really gets behind it, and helps out in a million ways.  Both sets of grandparents helped out with Jacob man and Brett was BUSY the entire weekend.  Here is the band for the weekend:
The youth especially enjoyed rec time on Saturday afternoon.  Brett came up with some really fun games that they were very competitive with!  Here is a cube that they have to hop through without touching the sides.

The junior girls group was small, but powerful!

It was a great weekend, with about 140 kids attending + 30 college leaders.  It was definitely the biggest event that Brett had been in charge of so far.  It went really well and as soon as it was over, we were already looking forward to next year!

Fun With Daddy!

Get excited those of you who are actually reading this after my one year break from blogging!  I have uploaded and have all the pics from the last year ready to go for blogging : )  My sister told me that I should just forget the last year and go forward, but since I'm really doing all this for the blog book, I couldn't skip all the fun memories from this past year.  So. . . I"m going to do some catching up this summer.  It will be a little bit of a blogging blitz hopefully : )  Or. . . it might be another epic fail and I won't post anything for another eight months.  We shall see!
Here are my sweet boys playing with the train table.  Jacob LOVES the train table and uses it for cars.   He would get Brett to come play with him all the time and wanted to sit on his lap while they played.
Jacob loved it when Brett would make the tunnel spring in the air.  I did  get a little afraid it would hit him in the face.
Love those brown eyes!
It is so cute to post these pictures a year later because I see how much he has grown.  Sweet boy has mommy's heart!
