Birthday Party Fun!

We decided that we would pair Jacob's birthday celebration with a trip to GA so that all the grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins could come!  We stopped one night to stay with Steph and Bert on our way down, and then arrived in Toccoa on the day of his party.  Jacob was WORN out!  He had taken a short morning nap and then was taking a great afternoon nap when Heather, Trey and Lauren arrived.  They had come early to give him presents and say hey!  Since they had driven an hour and a half to get to us (at least), I was feeling bad that Jacob was still sleeping when they got there.  They were only going to stay 2 hours anyway, so after he slept for 30 mins after they got there, I thought it would be okay to wake him up.  WRONG.  He cried from the minute he woke up and never really recovered!  I think it was the combination of teething/exahustion/ being in a new place, but he was not happy the rest of the afternoon evening.  He certainly didn't care it was his birthday celebration :)

A very serious Jacob opens his presents from Lauren and Heather.  He cried right after he opened Heather's gift, but later it was his FAVORITE toy for like 3 months!  So funny!

Lauren made this adorable turtle blanket for Jacob for his birthday.  All of the adults were wayyyy impressed!

All of the cousins wanted to help Jacob with his presents.  Since he really didn't care at this age, we let them all take turns and open the gifts for him.  Grady was really excited about the batman slide he had gotten for him!

Ha!  Here is the little garage that Heather got Jacob.  As you can see, he was ignoring all his other gifts and playing with her's.

Nana & Papa got him the cutest train set.

My sweet boy!

He did NOT like the hat on his head!

We thought he might like the cake, but he was just too tired/fussy for fun.  For those that are around Jacob alot, they know it was really unlike him to be sooooo fussy like he was.

Not amused.

Starting to cry. . .

Get me out of here!

To end the evening with a bang, Jacob fell on the coffee table and busted his lip.  First bleeding injury to Jacob and I was a little keyed up about it!  Brett told me there were many more to come!

Poor pumpkin!

Now he's smiling!  We still had a great time even though he was a little tired and were so thankful to be able to celebrate with family!

Summer happenings & cruising around the room

Here are some random tidbits from our life in NC.  Jacob liked to say hey to Chloe at the front door.  She would come up and lick his hands on the glass.
Lake day with Steve and Kim Pace.  They would invite us down all the time to their place on Kerr Lake.  It was super fun and Jacob enjoyed it the most of all :)  At least he wasn't afraid of the fish like mommy!
Reading one of Jacob's favorite books "Heads".
He loved to lift the flap at the end and then put it back down.  These books are soooo fun , but can get torn up!
Stinker smiles!

Around this time we started feeding him with a Baby Einstein video or a Leapfrog video.  He ate soooo much better and was way less picky.

Books and Magnets

I'm back at blogging again after a short cold!!!  Haha!  It's funny how things fall by the wayside when you don't feel up to par.  :)  Our sweet one has always loved books!  By one year, he would sometimes sit still for us to read up to fifteen books to him!  I always read in Spanish and Brett always read to him in English.  As soon as we finished a book, he would peek over his shoulder and look at the basket like, "get another one!"  After 10-15 books later, he would finally get restless and want down.  I love love love to read to him and am so glad that he shares my love of "literature".  Ha!

Here he is perusing through his books.  By 11 months, he would let you know which books he wanted to read by slamming it shut and whining if you picked the wrong one.  As soon as you presented one he liked, he would let you read the whole thing and sometimes want to read it again and again.  Goodnight Gorilla was his FAVORITE there for awhile.

Needless to say, we do not manage to sit still for 15  books now :)  His limit is about 5-7 and then he hops down to run around the room!
Here he is being soooo proud that he can cruise around the furniture.  Look at that smile!

Another favorite pastime was playing with the magnets on the fridge.  I washed these four magnets so that he could chew/play with them.  He loved to take them off the fridge and throw them in the floor.  We would pick it up really quickly and slap it back on the fridge.  He would laugh and laugh at the game!

Sweet pumpkin!  Can't believe you are so big now!
