Easter with the Thompsons

One of the things we definitely miss about living in Georgia is all the family time!  Growing up, Easter was a big holiday for both of our families.  We would family hop back and forth from house to house for the family gatherings.  Since we definitely wanted to be in place at our church for Easter, we were so happy that at least one Easter celebration came to us this time!  We are really close with my first cousins on my mom's side and are super great friends.  Although we live in four different states, we have remained close as we have all become adults.  One of my cousins, Kristi, now lives very close in Durham, NC as her husband is in grad school at Duke.  She was super gracious to have us all over for Easter.  Mimi, Papa Stan, Uncle Stan, Bert, Steph, Em, Hannah, Brett, Jacob, and I all headed over to their place to celebrate together.  Mike, Ali, David, Kristi, Jay, Uncle Jimmy, and Aunt Kathy were all there to greet us (oh. . . and Birdie too!)
Mike met us at the car and whisked Jacob off to play :)

Emily and Jacob definitely entertained us.
The "blue solo cup" provided hours of entertainment for Jbaby.
Jacob loves Ali :)
Normally, in GA, we all have a big Easter egg hunt for the big kids.  Mom, Dad, Aunt Kathy, Uncle Jimmy, Aunt Ann, and Uncle Bud chip in and put money in the eggs for us to find.  It is soooooo fun!  The boys almost push each other in the ditch to find the prize eggs of $20.  Since we were in urban Durham, Aunt Kathy did a modified version.  She put the money in the eggs and then let us pick the eggs that we wanted in rounds.  The boys were as violent as they were outside!!!!

Here is Em upset that she is being held back from the action.  Jacob is like, "What is going on?"
Grabbing eggs in round 2.

Round three. . . I think someone is about the get hurt!

Look at that blocking out action by Stanley and David!

Even Hannah woke up to see what all the yelling was about.
Em is like, "Please let me down!!!!!"
Last round:  only one egg per person.  This was a very agressive round!!!
Here is Em helping uncle Brett count his money.  He was worried that Em was going to take it to her daddy!  Ha!  :)

Thanks for having us Kristi!  We had so much fun sharing the holiday with all you Thompsons!

Emmy Spends the Night

The occasion for Emmy's first overnight stay was a sad one!  Little Hannah Banana had a bad eye infection and ended up having to stay the night in the hospital.  Steph and Bert had left her with us for the evening totally thinking that they would be back to get her.  After the hospital staff couldn't get the IV in Hannah's little arm (after trying 4 times), they decided to admit her so that they could monitor her after they gave her antibiotics.  Emmy and Jacob had a great
time together and were both exahusted by the time bedtime rolled around.  There was not a peep from either one when we put them down, even though Em is usually not too sure about new places.  She wanted to help with EVERYTHING about Jacob and he loved having her there.  They are the best of friends!

March 24th 2012: Army Crawling Begins

On the morning of March 24th, Jacob decided to make his first move at crawling.  We had been putting his toys out in front of him for a long time, trying to make him interested.  He had started reaching, kicking those legs, and whining for the toys, but he hadn't made any moves for them.  On Saturday morning, that changed!  He decided he REALLY wanted his toy rings and made a little scoot for them.  It was so cute!  I cannot even express how glad I was that I was home to see it!  I soooooo wanted him to start crawling on a weekend so that I wouldn't miss it!  I was smiling the rest of the day after he did it and so glad that I would have that memory forever!  Here is where he started:

And this is where he finished!  Such a big boy!  We can't believe how fast he is growing up!
So proud of myself!
A week later, he was all over the place!  We caught him scooting out of the room for his toy!
Here are some of of his favorite things to crawl to:  The Baby Einstein DVDs!
The Sound dock--as soon as we turn his music on he scoots right over :)
He also loves Emily's spinning toy!  We are so proud of you sweet boy!

Aunt Brenda's Push Toy :)

Aunt Brenda gave mom and extra push toy for our kiddos to play with.  Since Jacob didn't have one, they sent it up with Steph and Bert for Jacob to play on.  He loves it, and especially loves to make the "spinner" spin on the back of the little car.  It cracks us up that he's so big that he looks like he could just scoot around the house!  In reality, we can't take our hands off him!
Sooooo fun!
Here he is trying to get the hang of pushing it.  He would fall flat on his face if we let him go!
Having fun with daddy!

It's Springtime!

I was so excited for springtime to get here so that I could put my cute boy in shorts!  Aunt Lauren gave us a HUGE stack of cute spring and summer clothes.  He can still fit in some 12mo. stuff, but for the most part, he is into 18mo. stuff already.  His LONG little waist makes things not fit unless they are bigger :)

Here he is in some precious overalls!  Look at that sweet face :)

He is getting too busy for pictures!  You have to take six to get one where he is still and smiling!
I love this one!  It shows his sweet little personality.  We love you little man!

Jacob Isaiah: Seven Months

I wrote the following on March 14th, but am just now getting to actually blog about the seventh month.  So. . . he actually turned 7 months a month ago :)  I am going to be catching up on my blogging since it is spring break so stay tuned this week!

March 14, 2012
Sweet baby Jacob turned 7 months this past weekend and is growing up soooooo fast!  The first couple of weeks people told us that time would FLY after you had kids.  Well. . . at that point, time felt like it was moving really slowly because we were getting NO sleep!  I actually hoped we could fast forward to the sleeping part!  Ha!  Well, now baby boy is seven months and I look back this has definitely been the fastest seven months of my life.  Every day is so full with activities for little man, that bedtime gets here and Brett and I can’t believe that it is already time to go to sleep.  Each day we are more and more thankful for the blessing he is.  We can’t wait to enter this next crawling and walking stage and watch him explore his world more.  In the pic below Brett stood him up and then took his hands off him for a second to take the pic.  When he sent me the text, my eyes popped out of my head!  Then I realized that he hadn't gone from not crawling to pulling up in one day!

This month Jacob dropped a nap and now only takes three naps a day.  He still eats 6 bottles but has just added cereal and veggies to his daily fare.  He is a superstar at sitting up and prefers that to tummy time.  When we turn Baby Einstein on, he squeals, talks up a storm, and starts bouncing around.  He especially likes the puppets on the movie and “talks” to them.  Just this month, he has become infatuated with the teething rings that we put in the freezer for him.  He normally will drop a toy within a minute of giving it to him and move on to something else.  He can sometimes keep a teething ring in his hand for up to 30 mins!  We give it to him in the car, when we take him on walks, or while he is in his exersaucer.  A little over two months ago, we couldn’t get him to put anything in his mouth.  He would make the funniest face and push out anything with his little tongue (the way he does with his toothbrush now!)

The other major change pertains to his eating.  Now, he loves to eat and gobbles down two meals a day.  We feed him at his first feeding of the day (around 7am) and at the late afternoon (normally around 5:30).  We give him a little cereal and then add veggies for now.  He loves loves loves sweet potatoes and tolerates carrots and green beans.  The only thing he hates for now is peas.  This morning he made himself almost gag when he was eating them!  Brett and I were dying laughing!
He is also in love with his Baby Einstein movie.  Here he is propped back on daddy watching his movie.  We thought it was so funny!

Here he is enjoying tummy time.  Brett sets up all the things so that he'll have to reach to get them.

Our last major change was in how observant he has become.  He now LOVES trips to the grocery store (now that he can sit in the top of the buggy).  He watches the other people, listens to other buggies, and checks out all the items on the shelves.  He is mesmerized by the guys that bring in all the buggies in the parking lot.  It is impossible to get his attention if someone is bringing them in at that moment.  It is so fun to see the world through the eyes of a child!  His growing interest in the world around him (especially Chloe) makes us laugh and smile.  We love you Jacob Isaiah!

Practicing sitting up with my pillows around me :)
